Can I use Windows XP to upload my site ?

Yes. You can use Windows XP Network Places to upload your site. You should have the FTP login details handy. Once you have them please follow the instructions below to browse your account just as a folder on your server.

Windows XP comes with a network manager than you can use an FTP client.

Create a Windows XP Network Place
- Start --> Network Places
- Under the "NetworkTasks" sidebar, select "Add a network place" and click "Next" in the screen that shows up.
- Select "Choose another network location" and click "Next"
- Enter the FTP Address for your site in this format, ftp://ftp.your_domain_here.com and click "Next"
- Make sure that "Log On Anonymously" is not selected. Enter your username in the field that appears.
- Click "Next" and enter a name for the FTP place. Click "Next" and "Finish"
Logging in to your Network Place
- Start --> Network Places
- Click on the domain name and enter the password when asked to Log On
- Finished and now you can transfer the files.
Transferring the files
- To transfer your files on your computer to your website, simply copy the files you want to upload and paste them into your network places directory.
- All the operations valid for a directory is applicable here also.
